Okay this may not be for everyone but back in September 2006 seven of us guys (Ken, Eric, Shawn, Chase, Mike, Greg and Dave)decided to take a trip on our Sea Doo’s from The Westgate River Ranch Resort to Okeechobee Florida. I believe it was about 150 miles round trip and took us about three hours each way. A lot of the trip was through a strait canal that was made for larger boat traffic. About 12 or so miles of the trip were off this main canal and consisted of endless turns and twists. This ended up being the most exciting part of the trip and showed us a part of Florida that probably existed 200 years ago. We saw probably 200 or more alligators along the way and I remember a certain member of our crew who got off his Sea Doo and tried to chase a few alligators that were lying on the bank. I wish I could tell you his name but I am sworn to secrecy.
Each way there were four locks that opened allowing us to enter them as water slowly filled up. I don’t remember which one, but one of them raised us nearly eight feet. This was the first time that I had ever been inside a lock and it was a little bit strange. We finally made it down to Lake Okeechobee which is the largest lake in Florida about 30 miles across and ate some lunch and headed back. Of course this is still the rainy season in Floria and we encountered a torrential rain and lightning storm on our way back. We also had another little mishap on the way back, Greg and Shawn got their Sea Doo’s stuck in a couple feet of mud. It took us nearly an hour to get them out but we made it through the lock system before they closed. I hope I have retold the story correctly and Ken I am sorry I don’t have a picture of you but you were the person with the camera taking all the pictures.
